NH's Energy Future Is Now

NH's Energy Future Is Now
In New Hampshire and the nation, cars and trucks contribute the largest source of carbon emissions. Electric vehicles (EV) offer a solution. The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law invests significantly in the build out of the EV charging infrastructure needed to pave the path for EVs.

With mainstream auto manufacturers moving to an EV market, the time is now. New Hampshire can tap into the economic benefits by building the workforce and policy to support EV infrastructure development in our state.

In the coming months and years, businesses, municipalities, and lawmakers will need to work collaboratively and creatively to tackle the challenges and opportunities that come with new infrastructure and investments. The goal will be to build a network of charging stations that are accessible and user friendly, as well as a reliable electric grid to supply the needed power. Where will the EV chargers be installed? What can communities do to prepare?

In this session, we will talk to experts from the ski industry, a major purchaser of EVs for commercial fleets, NHDES and CENH, and share key insights for building the road to EV’s in NH. Join the discussion!
New Hampshire businesses share insights on strategically planning for and implementing energy efficiency and renewable energy projects that deliver a return-on-investment. Attendees will gain an understanding of the value –from an economic, energy and environmental perspective –of investing in energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies, as well as the variety of financial and technical resources available in New Hampshire to successfully undertake these initiatives.

Presentations by:
Jennifer Legere, Owner, A Place to Grow in Brentwood
Lydia West, Chief Financial Officer, Goosebay Sawmill and Lumber in Chichester
Zach Luse, Founder & CEO, Paragon Digital Marketing in Keene

Travel & Tourism is the state’s second biggest industry, and the outdoor recreation slice of that pie supports some 79,000 jobs and generates around $8.7 billion in consumer spending. But for all its contributions to the state, outdoor recreation and tourism is susceptible to the whims of Mother Nature as well as the long-term effects of a changing climate. Our group of panelists represent some of the diverse recreational opportunities that the state has to offer, and they will share with us what measures they’ve adopted to adapt to the changing climate – particularly as it pertains to their use of energy. We’ll talk to them about what energy or environmental challenges their businesses face, as well as ask them about what else would help them keep their businesses healthy, be it in the form of policy, legislation, changes to consumer behaviors, etc.
How do you balance the need for low-cost reliable energy with policy priorities and the urgency of mitigating the effects of climate change? What are the investments necessary to make that work? Who will pay for this and how? This 60-minute interactive Energy Week Event focuses on the potential in new and emerging clean energy technology touching on various technologies from offshore wind, to clean transportation technology, an overview of transactive energy and a critical discussion of resiliency of renewables. The session will be hosted in a webinar format and will provide opportunities for interaction with the panelists through energy trivia poll questions throughout and an open Q&A portion toward the end of the event.
